This one-hour workshop explores the Project Charter as the formal authorization to initiate a project and empower the project manager. Participants learn how the charter defines the project’s purpose, objectives, high-level scope, success criteria, and decision-making authority – before detailed planning begins.

Particular attention is given to the relationship between the project sponsor and the project manager. The workshop shows how a well-developed charter clarifies expectations, establishes authority, secures organizational commitment, and creates a shared basis for decisions and escalation.

The workshop includes a practical introduction to Charter Forge, the free Project Charter generator provided by the Project Business Foundation. Participants will see how the tool supports sponsors and project managers in jointly developing a clear and meaningful mandate for the project.
